How to care for your beard at home
A beard needs its own care routine, different from the hair on your head: the skin underneath dries out more easily, and the hair itself is often coarser and needs extra moisture.
Washing your beard every day with regular shampoo isn't a good idea — it dries out the skin. A dedicated beard wash or a mild shampoo 2–3 times a week is usually enough to keep it clean without over-drying.
Beard oil does two things: it moisturizes the hair and the skin underneath, and it makes combing easier. Apply it to a slightly damp beard, working from the roots to the tips for more even coverage.
Combing with a dedicated brush or comb doesn't just make your beard look tidy — it also helps distribute natural oils evenly and trains the hair to grow in the right direction.
Even if you're growing your beard out, the outline and length should still be trimmed regularly — otherwise the shape quickly loses its neatness and stray hairs start growing in different directions.
If the skin under your beard is itchy, flaky, or irritated all the time rather than just after a shave, that's a reason to see a dermatologist — not just switch products.
